Job Description

Foreign Language Course Supervisor

Employment Term: Remainder of the 2026/27 School Year, 200 day contract Position overview: To oversee and support students enrolled in online foreign language courses. Your focus will be: maintaining an environment conducive to learning, ensuring academic integrity, troubleshooting basic technology issues, guiding students to stay on track with their coursework.

Qualifications: Must hold a WV Teaching Certification, (Foreign Language Preferred) Must pass Criminal Background check conducted pursuant to WV Code 18-5-15c and/or 18A-3-10, as appropriate. Excellent classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations. Reliable and punctual, with high attention to detail regarding testing protocols. Basic proficiency or familiarity with a foreign language (e.g., Spanish, French, German) is a plus, though not required, as the curriculum is entirely self-contained or led by an outside instructor. Strong working/communication skills with students, parents, guardians, and peers. Manage student behavior in accordance with WV Board of Education Policy 4373. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Strong digital literacy, including familiarity with Learning Management Systems and video conferencing tools (Zoom, MS Teams).

Key Responsibilities Classroom Management & Supervision: Monitor students in a physical lab or synchronous virtual room while they engage with their online foreign language platform. Maintain an orderly, focused, and respectful learning environment in accordance with state, county and school policies. Academic Proctoring: Administer and proctor quizzes, exams, and speaking assessments according to school and platform protocols. Strictly enforce academic integrity policies to prevent cheating or plagiarism. Student Support & Motivation: Act as the first point of contact for student questions. Encourage pace-setting, help students manage their deadlines, and provide positive reinforcement. Technical Troubleshooting: Assist students with basic technology issues, such as logging into the language platform, navigating modules, and ensuring audio/microphone equipment is functioning properly for speaking exercises. Progress Tracking & Communication: Monitor student engagement, attendance, and completion rates. Regular communication with school administration, guidance counselors, and parents regarding student progress or behavioral concerns. Liaison with Course Vendors: Act as the bridge between the students and the external online language provider or certified remote teacher to resolve content-specific questions. Responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs and may teach other elective courses. (Fine Arts and English). Responsible for planning and implementing team teaching as appropriate. May be responsible for planning and implementing designated co-curricular activities and/or programs at the school such as curricular fairs, awards programs and filed trips. Comply with host agency policies and procedures. Collaborate with Special Education Teacher to implement IEP's when developing lesson plans. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/lead teacher. Monitor student progress toward mastery of instructional goals and objectives. Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Gilmer County School's Policy 3210. Reports To: Principal or Designee Salary based on experience and education level per state salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
